Beyond the Walls of Eden

Beyond the Walls of Eden is as an immersive and transformative multi-media installation. Its genesis is an art film that has been reshaped through the frames of sculpture, responsive media, and digital art. The public enters a poetic journey into the intimate relationship of artist Scarlett Rouge and her mother, Michele Lamy. The installation and film depict the complexities of the unique bond shared by two highly creative beings.

Filmed in the last apartment designed by the late Tony Duquette, at 1 Place du Palais Bourbon, Paris, Madrid and Rouge create a work that juxtaposes the decomposing ‘Old Hollywood’ baroque universe of Duquette with their contemporary interdisciplinary practices.

Beyond the Walls of Eden’s debut to the public at Artissima 2016, Turin, Italy, reconceived within the subterranean Roman walls of the historic Casa del Pingone.

The project was presented at Volta Art Fair, Armory Week, New York, 2017.

Most recently, Beyond the Walls of Eden was presented at the Venice Biennale on the exterior walls of the Serra del Giardini greenhouse. The night picnic was created by Brooklyn’s Ghetto Gastro.
